Oxalis Foundation funds the 24/7 Emergency Station in Phong Nha and its vicinity

On March 30, 2025, Oxalis Foundation and Quang Binh 115 Emergency Services Co., Ltd. officially signed a sponsorship agreement to fund the operation of the 24/7 Emergency Station in Phong Nha Town. This is an important effort to enhance emergency medical services in Phong Nha and nearby communes, ensuring timely medical support for both tourists and local residents.

Mr. Cai Viet Xuan (Representative of Quang Binh 115 Emergency Services Co., Ltd.) and Mr. Nguyen Chau My (Representative of Oxalis Foundation) signed the cooperation agreement.

The urgent need for on-site emergency services in Phong Nha

Phong Nha – Ke Bang, home to world-famous cave systems, is Vietnam’s largest adventure tourism hub, welcoming approximately 1 million visitors annually, including nearly 50,000 tourists participating in cave exploration tours. Additionally, Phong Nha Town and surrounding communes have a population of around 30,000 people.

However, there is currently no on-site emergency ambulance service in the area. When a medical emergency occurs, patients must wait for an ambulance from Dong Hoi City, which takes from 45 minutes to over an hour to arrive. This critical waiting period can severely impact the health and even the survival of patients.

Oxalis Adventure CEO, Mr. Nguyen Chau A, spoke at the signing ceremony.

Oxalis contributes to supporting emergency medical services

Recognizing this urgent need, Oxalis Foundation has decided to sponsor Quang Binh 115 Emergency Services Co., Ltd. to establish the Phong Nha Emergency Station— a permanent emergency facility in the town, with an annual budget of 180 million VND.

The Phong Nha Emergency Station will maintain a dedicated team consisting of one driver, one nurse or paramedic, and one ambulance fully equipped with medical supplies in accordance with Ministry of Health standards. The team will operate 24/7, ready to respond to emergencies and transport patients to medical facilities as needed.

In addition to emergency response, the station’s team will also provide health consultations, guidance on medication use, medical supplies, and support in handling medical situations upon request.

The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of Oxalis Adventure (Oxalis Home).

Aiming for safe and sustainable tourism development

The establishment of a permanent emergency station will not only reduce response time for medical emergencies but also increase visitor confidence in experiencing adventure tourism in Phong Nha. For local residents, this is a significant step in accessing fast and professional medical services.

Adventure tourism cannot be separated from safety. Oxalis hopes that this emergency station model will become a key link in enhancing tourism quality while also serving as a concrete commitment to integrating economic development with social responsibility.

Along with funding the emergency station, Oxalis is also ready to collaborate with Quang Binh 115 Emergency Services in mobilizing local businesses to join hands in sustaining the station’s long-term operations, aiming for a sustainable solution beyond the initial 12-month sponsorship period.

With the implementation of 24/7 emergency services in Phong Nha, Oxalis Foundation hopes to contribute to improving healthcare services, ensuring safety for tourists and residents, and promoting the sustainable development of tourism in Phong Nha – Ke Bang.
